We do not collect your data
StoneNote has no user-account system or developer-operated data server, and it does not include advertising, analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting services. We do not receive your notes, imported media, files, speech results, or cloud content.
Scope and summary
This Privacy Policy applies to the StoneNote application, its share extension, and the StoneNote website. StoneNote is provided by the developer identified on its App Store product page. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to that developer.
StoneNote does not require an account with us. We do not operate an application backend that receives your content, and we do not sell, rent, share, or use personal data for advertising or tracking.
Some optional features connect directly from your device to Apple or a third-party service that you choose. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies; this does not result in us receiving a copy of your content.
Information we do not collect
The StoneNote app does not send us your name, postal address, phone number, email address, contacts, precise location, advertising identifier, device identifier, IP address, note activity, usage statistics, diagnostic logs, or crash reports.
We do not use cookies, advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, cross-app tracking, profiling, or targeted advertising in the app.
Settings and operational records that StoneNote needs in order to work—such as preferences, note metadata, sync state, and pending backup tasks—remain on your device unless you deliberately enable a service described below.
Local content and device permissions
Notes, handwriting, typed text, screenshots, imported videos, images, PDFs, video markers, and speech-recognition results are stored locally in the app’s container on your device. Content imported through the StoneNote share extension is transferred through the app group on your device.
StoneNote requests a device permission only when a feature needs it. Refusing a permission prevents or limits the related feature but does not prevent you from using unrelated parts of the app.
- Camera: capture a photo that you choose to insert into a note.
- Photos: select a video or image, or save an image when you ask StoneNote to do so.
- Speech Recognition: create text from the audio track of a video. StoneNote requires supported on-device recognition and stores the resulting text with your note.
- Files and share sheet: import or export files that you select through Apple’s system interfaces.
Optional iCloud sync
If you enable iCloud sync, StoneNote stores and synchronizes supported note data and resources through the iCloud account signed in on your device. The feature is optional and is controlled from StoneNote settings and your Apple account settings.
iCloud processing is provided by Apple and is subject to Apple’s terms and privacy policy. We do not operate a separate sync server and do not receive your iCloud content in the ordinary operation of StoneNote.
Turning sync off stops future StoneNote synchronization on that device, but it does not automatically delete content already stored locally, in iCloud, or on another device. Manage or delete those copies through StoneNote and the relevant Apple settings.
Services you choose to connect
StoneNote can connect to Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, and Baidu Netdisk when you choose to sign in, select a video, import a file, or configure automatic backup. The app communicates directly with the selected provider using the authorization and file-access interfaces supplied by that provider.
The provider may process account identifiers, authorization information, file names, folder information, selected files, uploaded backups, IP addresses, and technical request data according to its own policy. StoneNote may keep the authorization state, selected destination, and task status on your device so that the requested feature can work. We do not receive or independently store that information.
You can sign out in StoneNote and can also revoke StoneNote access from the provider’s account settings. Files already uploaded to a provider remain there until you delete them through that provider.
- Google Drive — governed by Google’s privacy policy and account controls.
- Dropbox — governed by Dropbox’s privacy policy and account controls.
- Microsoft OneDrive — governed by Microsoft’s privacy statement and account controls.
- Baidu Netdisk — governed by Baidu’s privacy policy and account controls.
- Online video or streaming sources — the source you open may receive ordinary network request information and remains governed by its own policy.
App Store purchases
StoneNote Pro purchases, restorations, family-sharing eligibility, and refunds are handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your Apple Account password, complete payment-card details, or payment authentication information.
Apple may provide developers with transaction status and aggregated sales information under its own terms. StoneNote uses the entitlement information made available by StoreKit only to determine whether Pro features should be unlocked on your device.
Website and support email
The StoneNote website is a static informational website. It does not provide user accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking pixels, marketing cookies, or an online contact form.
As with any website, hosting and network infrastructure may technically process standard request information, such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, and time of request, in order to deliver and secure the site. We do not use that information to identify, profile, advertise to, or track visitors.
If you email support, you voluntarily provide your email address, message, and any diagnostic details or attachments you choose to include. We use that information only to answer the request, investigate the issue, protect against abuse, and meet applicable legal obligations. Do not send passwords, verification codes, complete payment-card numbers, or note content that is not necessary for support.
Your controls and deletion
Because we do not hold a StoneNote account or a server-side copy of your notes, we generally cannot view, retrieve, correct, export, or delete that content for you.
- Delete local notes and files in StoneNote, or remove the app to delete its local app container, subject to iOS behavior and any device backup.
- Manage synchronized content through StoneNote and your iCloud settings.
- Manage third-party files, account access, and retention through the selected provider.
- Ask us to delete a support conversation by emailing support@stone-note.com, unless retention is reasonably required for security, legal compliance, or resolving an ongoing request.
Security and younger users
StoneNote relies on iOS application isolation, device security, and the safeguards of Apple and any service you choose to connect. You are responsible for protecting your device, Apple Account, third-party accounts, and exported files. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
StoneNote is a general-purpose productivity and study tool and is not directed specifically to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. A user who has not reached the age required to consent under local law should use StoneNote with permission and guidance from a parent or legal guardian.
If a parent or guardian believes that a child sent personal information to our support address, please contact us so that we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Policy updates and contact
We may update this policy when StoneNote features, connected services, or legal requirements change. We will revise the “Last updated” date and provide an additional notice when a change materially affects how information is handled.
Questions or requests about this Privacy Policy can be sent to support@stone-note.com.
