Please read these terms

By downloading, accessing, purchasing, or using StoneNote, you agree to these Terms of Use and to the applicable App Store terms. If you do not agree, do not use StoneNote.

Scope and acceptance

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and the StoneNote developer identified on the App Store product page (“we,” “us,” or “our”). They apply to the StoneNote application, its share extension, the StoneNote website, related documentation, and support we provide.

Apple’s App Store terms and the Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also apply to your download and use of the app. If a mandatory App Store term conflicts with these Terms, that mandatory term controls to the extent of the conflict.

Eligibility and guardian consent

You must be legally capable of entering into these Terms. If you have not reached the age of legal capacity where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms for you and supervise your use of StoneNote.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of StoneNote is permitted by the laws, school or workplace rules, and agreements that apply to you.

License and ownership

Subject to these Terms and the applicable App Store rules, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable license to install and use StoneNote on Apple devices that you own or control, including use permitted through Apple Family Sharing.

StoneNote is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors retain all rights in the app, including its software, design, branding, documentation, and other materials, except for your content and third-party materials.

You may not copy, distribute, rent, lease, sell, sublicense, reverse engineer, decompile, attempt to extract source code, bypass technical restrictions, or create derivative works from StoneNote except where applicable law expressly permits an activity that cannot be restricted by contract.

Your content and responsibilities

You retain ownership of notes, handwriting, text, media, documents, and other content that you create or import. These Terms do not give us a general license to collect or use your content. StoneNote processes it on your device, or sends it to a service you select, only as needed to perform the action you request.

You are responsible for your content and must have the rights and permissions needed to import, copy, annotate, download, export, share, or back it up. Do not use StoneNote to infringe copyright, privacy, confidentiality, publicity, or other rights.

You are responsible for reviewing exported files and for maintaining appropriate independent backups. Synchronization is designed to propagate changes and should not be treated as a versioned or permanent backup.

StoneNote Pro and purchases

StoneNote Pro is offered as a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase rather than a recurring subscription. The current price, included features, family-sharing status, and other purchase information are shown in the app and App Store at the time of purchase.

Purchases and restorations are processed by Apple. You must use the Apple Account associated with the purchase to restore it. Family Sharing availability depends on Apple’s rules, your region, and the current App Store product configuration.

Refund requests and payment disputes must be submitted to Apple and are decided under Apple’s policies and applicable law. We cannot access complete payment details, approve an App Store refund, or guarantee Apple’s decision.

A Pro purchase unlocks the Pro functionality offered for the supported StoneNote product. We may improve, replace, or discontinue individual features as technology, operating systems, third-party services, and legal requirements change. A one-time purchase does not guarantee that every future product, external service, or unsupported system version will be provided indefinitely.

Apple and third-party services

StoneNote may interact with iCloud, the App Store, Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, Baidu Netdisk, online video sources, file providers, and other services you choose. Those services are provided by third parties and are governed by their own terms, privacy policies, account rules, limits, and availability.

We do not control and are not responsible for a third-party service, account suspension, changed API, missing file, network interruption, price, content, or decision. A provider may change or discontinue access at any time, and related StoneNote functionality may then be limited or unavailable.

You are responsible for the legality and security of the accounts, links, media, and files that you use with a third-party service.

Storage, sync, and backups

StoneNote stores content locally and can optionally synchronize or export content using services you select. Device failure, accidental deletion, account changes, unavailable storage, software defects, provider changes, or interrupted transfers may result in data loss.

Keep independent backups of important notes and verify that an export or cloud backup can actually be opened before relying on it. A PDF backup is primarily for viewing and sharing and may not restore all editable StoneNote data.

You are responsible for available device and cloud storage, network access, account access, and keeping supported versions of iOS, iPadOS, StoneNote, and any connected service.

Acceptable use

You must not use StoneNote to:

  • Violate a law, regulation, court order, or the rights of another person.
  • Copy, download, distribute, or share content without the required permission.
  • Introduce malware, disrupt the app or a connected service, probe security, or bypass access controls.
  • Misrepresent your identity, misuse another person’s account, or obtain unauthorized access to files or services.
  • Use StoneNote in a way that could damage, overload, or interfere with the app, its users, Apple, or a third-party provider.

Updates, availability, and termination

We may release updates, fix defects, change interfaces, adapt StoneNote to operating-system or provider changes, or discontinue a feature or the app. Some updates may be required for security, compatibility, purchases, sync, or connected services to continue working.

You may stop using StoneNote at any time and may delete the app. We may suspend or terminate the license if you materially breach these Terms, misuse StoneNote, or create a security or legal risk, subject to applicable law.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, responsibility for content, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute terms—remain effective after use ends.

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, StoneNote is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every device or file, or that synchronization, recognition, import, export, download, or backup will always succeed.

StoneNote is a productivity and study tool. It does not provide legal, medical, financial, academic, or other professional advice, and it is not intended for safety-critical use.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, remedies, or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, content, opportunity, revenue, or profits arising from StoneNote or a third-party service.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability arising from StoneNote will not exceed the amount you paid for StoneNote or StoneNote Pro, unless applicable law requires a different remedy or limit.

These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability arising from fraud, willful misconduct, or other circumstances protected by mandatory law.

Applicable law, changes, and contact

These Terms are governed by the law applicable to the developer’s principal place of business, without taking away mandatory consumer protections available to you under the law where you live. A dispute that cannot be resolved informally may be submitted to a court with jurisdiction under applicable law.

We may update these Terms when StoneNote, connected services, or legal requirements change. We will revise the “Last updated” date and provide additional notice when required. Continuing to use StoneNote after revised Terms become effective means you accept them, except where applicable law requires another form of consent.

Questions about these Terms can be sent to support@stone-note.com. Please contact us first if you have a concern so that we can try to resolve it.
